If my child does not have digital or online access at home

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those pupils to access remote education:

If we have advanced warning of lockdown restrictions being put into place, we contact all of our parents using a parentmail form to determine if they have adequate electronic devices for their children to use for remote learning.  The data from this then enables the school to prepare and assign the appropriate devices to families in need. These are then sent home with the families in advance.  If, little or no warning is given of a lockdown we send out the same data capture sheet to determine which families need a device but school staff will either deliver these to the families at home (within 2-3 days) or parents are invited to collect their device (whilst adhering to social distancing/safety measures)

In addition, our parents are asked to ring the school office to request a device or contact us via our School Facebook Account.

The school provides devices for children who are in Y1 to Y6. The school has access to dongles if there are families who have no internet at home.

Parents who have difficulties accessing the remote learning can contact the school office and speak to one of our ICT staff, who will talk them through their difficulties and help to rectify any problems. Our office staff have login details for our children’s accounts so parents can call the school office to retrieve it or request a reset if needed.

Our school website has helpful videos and step by step instructions to support families in accessing the remote learning, live lessons and google meets. These also provide support when using different devices including phones, ipads, android devices, chrome books and laptops.  Additional help can be requested via the school office and our ICT staff will call families to support them.
