Applying for Free School Meals
Are you entitled to additional funding for your child?
Did you know that we, as a school, may be able to access an extra pot of money to support your child through their education? This funding is called 'Pupil Premium' and it can be used by the school towards the following:
- to provide your child with free school meals when your children move to the juniors for as long as they are entitles to the pupil premium
- to provide extra classroom support and resources
- to provide financial support towards school trips
- to fund extra curricular school clubs
Due to ALL pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 being provided with school meals through the Universal free school meal scheme, which is funded by the Government, many parents miss out on the additional funding that they may be entitled to. Please register for them even though you are getting free meals during the first three years of school under the Universal Free Meals scheme because it directly affects the Pupil Premium Grant which the school receives.
Your child is entitled to this additional 'Pupil Premium' funding if you, as a parent/carer, claim any of the following:
-
Income Support
-
income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
-
income-related Employment and Support Allowance
-
support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
-
the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
-
Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
-
Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
-
Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Please register for them even though you are getting free meals during the first three years of school under the Free School Meals scheme because it directly affects the Pupil Premium Grant which the school receives. This grant helps to support socially disadvantaged children in the school community.
