Remote teaching and study time each day

How long can I expect work set by the school to take my child each day?

We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly the following number of hours each day:

Primary school-aged pupils

EYFS (Nursery and Reception Children) are provided with one to two hours of work via Tapestry each day.

Key Stage One pupils are provided with at least three hours of work each day which includes a piece of maths work, literacy work (and or phonics) and at least one piece of work from other areas of the curriculum.

Key Stage Two pupils are provided with four hours of remote work each day. This will include a piece of maths work, a piece of Literacy work and two pieces of work from a different area of the curriculum e.g. Geography, History, Science.

Accessing remote education

How will my child access any online remote education you are providing?

In Nursery and Reception - The children at school access their learning through the Tapestry website. Login details are given to each parent. Teachers are also connecting with the children through live sessions using Microsoft Teams.

In Years 1 to 6 - Online learning is accessed through Google Classroom. The teachers are providing a variety of live lessons, recorded sessions as well as assignments for the children to complete.

How will my child be taught remotely?

We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:

In Nursery and Reception - The children at school access their learning through the Tapestry website. This includes links to videos and audios made by both the teachers and other recorded teaching. Teachers are also connecting with the children through live sessions using Microsoft Teams.

In Years 1 to 6 - Online learning is accessed through Google Classroom. The teachers are providing a variety of live lessons, recorded sessions as well as assignments for the children to complete. These assignments have links to Oak Academy or other commercially available websites which have been adapted to support the teachers in  planning and delivering a well-sequenced curriculum so that knowledge and skills are built incrementally, with a good level of clarity about what is intended to be taught and practised in each subject.

Each week (when remote learning is taking place) we publish a timetable so you can see the day and time of your child's live teaching sessions. These can be seen in our Weekly Newsletter. Please click  HERE to be re-directed to our newsletters.
